Hey everyone, Today I wanted to talk about the CrossFit shoes I have just purchased and have been testing over the past four weeks. If you enjoy hard workouts like CrossFit it’s important to have a good quality pair of shoes that are going to last eight months to a year.
Research for the best shoes
It can be a little time consuming trying to find the best CrossFit shoes on the market simply because there are so many different choices (this is a good thing). In the past I have always opted for a padded shoe rather than the bare foot experience. I think the minimalist shoes have there place but after testing a number of pairs including the New balance Mx20v4 and the Inov-8. I have come to the conclusion that bare foot training is just not for me.
After searching online for a number of hours, reading and watching youtube reviews I decided to buy a pair of Nike Metcons. There where a little expensive at $200 but I love Nike products and figured these would be ideal for my requirements.
I decided to do my own testing as soon as they arrived. Six hours at the box, twelve miles of running and a little bit of light wear around the house I discovered the shoes to be kinda ok but not good value for money considering how much they cost.
The Metcons did well at the box don’t get me wrong. I liked the way you can go from one activity to another with ease, including weights to running without having to change shoes. They are pretty good for lifting but I think my liters are better equipped.
The grip is excellent and when completing short run bursts I think they out perform the nano’s.
I love the design it’s very modern and you can instantly tell it is a shoe made by Nike.
Check out this video by the Dsstuff team reviewing the Metcons they sum up the shoe very well (much better than I can describe).
I often go shoe crazy and end up buying a range of shoes that I don’t need. This year I tried to hold back the bets I would but there are some many good shoes on the market right now it’s difficult to resist.
I did end up buying another pair of shoes and this was mainly because of the recommendation shoe review video check it out here.
The Nike Free 5.0 V6 has taken me by surprise. I have had two or three pairs of free shoes in the past and I really never imagined buying another pair (they where just not for me). So when I purchased the new v6 I was a little apprehensive as to weather or not I would keep them.
I can’t stress how nice the new Nike free 5.0 v6 are in every way. the design is awesome they look fantastic. You have the option to design your own and I like that. The cost is only $100 and you also get free shipping so no complaints.
All in all you could buy either of these two shoes and be happy but it comes down to two options if you have money go with the metcons but if you are on a budget choose the free.
